The government’s 1Malaysia People’s Housing (PR1MA) programme, launched in 2011 to provide 500,000 affordable homes over five years for the middle-income group or M40, is a long way from meeting its target.
PR1MA Corporation Malaysia, the statutory agency set up on Jan 1, 2013 to oversee this task under PR1MA Act 2012, has approved only 267,670 homes nationwide while 141,831 units are at various stages of construction as of last December.
